The Pre-registration Examination in Kenya stands as a pivotal assessment administered to healthcare graduates upon completion of their internship training. This examination, encompassing both written and clinical components, plays a crucial role in determining the eligibility of candidates for registration as practitioners.

Examination Details:

The examination consists of two parts:

• Written Component: 100 marks
• Clinical Component: 100 marks Candidates must achieve a minimum pass mark of 50% overall. Specifically, a minimum of 50% in the Clinical component is necessary to pass the entire examination.

Requirements:

Before sitting for the Pre-registration Examination, candidates must have completed a mandatory four-month attachment at an approved internship training center. This prerequisite ensures that candidates have practical experience in a supervised clinical environment before undertaking the examination.

Examination Attempts:

Candidates are allowed a maximum of three attempts to pass the Pre-registration Examination. Each attempt provides an opportunity for candidates to demonstrate their proficiency and readiness for permanent registration as healthcare practitioners.

Examination Results and Appeals:

Upon completion, examination results are published online and accessible via the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) portal at http://portal.medicalboard.co.ke/results. Candidates need to log in using their email address as the login ID and their ID number or passport number as the password. It is crucial to ensure accurate submission of these credentials to access results promptly.

For any appeals regarding examination results, candidates can address their concerns to the Chairperson of the Council via email at chair@kmpdc.go.ke.

Permanent Registration:

Candidates who successfully pass the Pre-registration Examination are required to proceed with applying for Permanent Registration. This step marks the culmination of their journey towards becoming fully recognized healthcare practitioners within Kenya's regulatory framework.
